Sip your morning coffee while watching weaver birds flutter around the fever trees outside and spend evenings with a glass of wine by the fireplace. The campfire is where guests can gather to share stories and get to know one another after the afternoon game drive. Drive out of camp at dawn to watch the animals waking to the start of a new day and return to camp for breakfast, or spend a full day in the reserve, stopping for lunch at a picturesque viewpoint. Stroll along the riverbanks observing the prolific birdlife, and talk to the Maasai about their medicinal uses of the indigenous plants.

DAY 8: Wednesday 3 April 2024 (B,L,D)

Staying at Ilkeliani Camp.

Ilkeliani’s experienced safari guides know the region intimately. Most of the guides come from the local communities, and have been part of the team for many years. Having done their training in the Maasai Mara, developing their knowledge of the terrain and studying the behaviour of the resident animals, they are best placed to find even those creatures that love to conceal themselves. The camp’s vehicles have been specially designed for game viewing, with open sides, plenty of pouches for photographic equipment, and sockets for recharging batteries on the go. Wish a suspension bridge from the camp over the river into the reserve, Ilkeliani offers immediate access to the Mara Reserve from dawn until dusk.
